Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 Reviews

Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 Reviews
Since starting my new job, I have been confined to work, and the woods. I have no TV, and more importantly, no internet. Since I am also away from my family from Monday to Friday, I have very little social contact as work is very professional. I debated getting a laptop and dongle but that also meant I had to get a data plan which ran into a significant cost. I researched and came across the Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 "smart phone".

For some strange reason, the USA didn't have the 3G variant as widely available as Europe. This feature makes the phone a useful substitute where a laptop would be too big. It enables you to to conect to the mobile network and access the internet, which was just the feature I wanted. I also liked the fact I could expand the memory using Micro SD cards. This meant that instead of being limited to the 16 gig on board memory, I could expand it to 48 gig by using a 32 gig Micro SD card. The European version also had bluetooth enabled whcih the wifi version found in the USA didn't.

Initial Impression
I am impressed with the Galaxy Tab. I heard complaints about the size but to me it isn't an issue. here it is in my hands so you have an idea of scale.

Functionality
The Galaxy Tab is not a PC. It does have many PC like functions but expecting PC performance from it is asking a little much from such a small package. What it does offer is flexability. You have the following:
  • portability
  • expandable memory
  • 3G and WiFi (at least with the European version)
  • Bluetooth (again with the European version)
  • Access to Android programs and apps
The access to Android programs cannot be understated here. I view loads of pdf, excel, powerpoint and word documents at work. I am chuffed that for a small cost (I think I paid about $20 USD total), I can view and modify all these documents. To add, there are also other programs worth getting like:
  • speed test
  • skype
  • msn mercury
  • scientific calculator
  • measurement converter
  • Opera web browser (which runs much better than the standard browser that is pre-installed)
Now I am no computer buff. I simply went to the marketplace on the phone, and purchased these programs. Many were free which was a bonus. Having WiFi helps as it makes the download much faster.

Usability
If you have used an i-anything, you can handle the Galaxy Tab. It is intuitive and there is a great deal of info online about how to optimize it's performance and battery life. Like any smart phone, it's an energy hog. The screen gobbles power at high brightness setting so I have mine turned down low. I also have programs that constantly need updating turned off and also don't engage WiFi unless I am using it. This helps conserve the battery and most times I get 2 - 3 days before thinking to charge the Tab.

Like the ipad, the screen also orientates itself using a gyro which is handy. This feature can be locked as sometimes you want the orientation to remain fixed. The speed at which the screen orientates itself is not the fastest (about .3 - .5 of a second by my estimates), however it's sufficient.

Buttons are located on the side where the sim and memory slots are found
At the top of the Tab, you will find the headphone / handsfree jack. Here is a tip:

You need to push the jack into the port HARD. If you don't, it will not engage and you will think you have a faulty headset as you will have no sound.

When it comes to sound, the Tab does a decent job. I watch films on mine every day as I have no TV. The little stereo speakers at the bottom do a good job and have respectable audio clarity considering the constraints. The picture quality is good and games / films alike look good on the screen

The screen resolution is 1024 x 600 which is sufficient given the size of the screen. This makes viewing documents easy on the tab.

Must Have Accesories
I am not much of an accessory fan, but there are some things I consider a must. These are:
  1. screen protector
  2. case
  3. extra memory cards
  4. bluetooth earpiece
These accesories mean your Tab is protected, and you can carry out your tasks with convenience. Since the Tab is bigger than a phone, a bluetooth headset means the awkwarness of using the Tab as a phone is avoided. I don't really have this issue as I have quiet rooms at work, however in some cases it is a convenience. Since the Tab is so flexable, you will find storing films and music will be inevitable. I like my work stuff on 1 card, and my private to be on the other. Eventually I will get a bluetooth mouse and keyboard so a review of those will be coming later.

Case
I bought a Roocase for my Tab. they had gotten good reviews and were significantly cheaper than the over priced Samsung variant. They are made of decent quality leather and look smart while protecting your Tab.

From the photos you should be able to tell that the case is good quality. It is backed by a lifetime warranty which is a positive. The only thing is that electronics usually get outdated after a year so there is no way this will be worn out by then. So how does the Galaxy Tab fit? Quite well. It does not slide around and seems well protected and snug. My only gripe is that the cut out for the screen is a little off and the Tab does not sit centrally. Having worked with leather though, I know this is extremely difficult to acheive so I am slowly letting my OCD dendencies subside.

In Conclusion
The Samsung Galaxy Tab keeps me connected. I have been very impressed with it and after a month using it, I am still happy with it. I bought it late in the release stage and because of this, I beat the early rush premium price. I am not a nerd nor am I technophobe so this fits the bill for me. With the addition of a bluetooth keyboard, the Tab does everything I would normally do on a PC. I don't care much about Apple vs Samsung and am not a fan boy of any particular company. I simply try to buy what is reliable, practical and economic. The Galaxy Tab was all these things when I needed them and so far I have not been disappointed.

Samsung S8530 Wave II Reviews

Introduction: They shall come in wave upon wave. Or so it seemed in the beginning. Samsung certainly wanted a strong start for their own Bada OS and they had it. It is usual for sequels to be questioned and belittled. That’s one thing the Wave II doesn’t have to worry about. It’s bigger and heavier than the original. When the second gen phone has a familiar sounding model name with an actual ordinal number in it – that doesn’t mean a complete lack of imagination. It’s a way to promote continuity. The Wave II has this base covered too – it’s nearly the same phone as the first Wave but presumably upgraded to reach to a more high-end market segment. Here’s a quick recap of its specs:

Key features
  • 3.7" 16M-color Super Clear LCD capacitive touchscreen, WVGA (480 x 800 pixels), multi-touch input, scratch-resistant glass surface
  • Slim and solid metal body
  • Bada OS 1.2 with Samsung Apps
  • ARM Cortex A8 based 1GHz CPU
  • Quad-band GSM support with dual-band HSPA
  • Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n connectivity with WPS support, Wi-Fi tethering
  • Built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS support, digital compass, Samsung LBS powered by ROUTE 66
  • 5 MP autofocus camera with touch focus and LED flash, geotagging, face, smile and blink detection
  • 720p video recording at 30fps
  • 2GB internal storage, microSDHC card slot
  • Standard microUSB port and Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP
  • Standard 3.5mm audio jack, TV out
  • Stereo FM radio with RDS, FM recording
  • Webkit-based Samsung Dolphin Browser 2.0 with Flash support
  • YouTube client, Facebook and Twitter integration
  • DivX/XviD video support
  • Good audio quality
Main disadvantages
  • Limited number of available applications
  • Super Clear LCD can’t match SuperAMOLED
  • Card slot under the battery
  • No lens protection
  • SatNav software only a 30-day trial
  • No ambient light sensor to adjust screen brightness automatically
  • Poor loudspeaker performance
Wave II over original Wave
  • Latest Bada OS 1.2
  • Swype-like T9 Trace text input
  • Over-the-Air software updates
  • Larger 3.7" touchscreen
Yep, we know, it’s not a great update. Plus the first three differences over the original Wave are about to be washed away once it receives its due software update to Bada OS 1.2.

The Samsung S8530 Wave II may not be the upgrade that all users have been waiting for, but the phone runs the latest version of the Bada OS and has kept all the great features of the original: from the powerful CPU, to premium connectivity and HD video recording.

And all this is delivered on a larger 3.7-inch display. Sure, it’s no SuperAMOLED screen but Samsung promises the LCD screen is not your ordinary screen, too. You see, good things come in limited number and Samsung is pressed to supply enough SuperAMOLEDs for their Android and Windows Phone 7 operations.
Bad luck for the Wave II, we guess. Even worse for the original Wave – this phone will be as good as discontinued when the stocks run out. The Wave II will take over and that’s that.

Anyway, Samsung are probably not giving up on their Bada OS. If it eventually becomes the base platform for all their midrange touch phones, they will be extremely well positioned to adapt to the new market reality.

It’s not about the business benefits or the multitasking – it’s as simple as apps. Users love to have them and makers love to sell them. Imagine being able to do that on all levels – from the most basic feature phones to the top-of-the-line smart devices. That must be enough reason for Samsung to keep their commitment to Bada.
Like it or not, the Samsung S8530 Wave II is just a step in the process. We’re about to see whether it’s as compelling as its predecessor. As usual, we start with the design and hardware, and then put Bada 1.2 under the microscope.

Organizer and apps
The Samsung S8530 Wave II comes with the Picsel Viewer on board. It works like a charm and is capable of pinch zooming. Both panning and zooming are fast and the overall performance of the Office viewer is excellent.

Picsel Viewer on Samsung Wave II

The calendar has three different types of view - daily, weekly and monthly. Adding a new event is quick and easy, and you can also set an alarm to act as a reminder.

The organizer centerpiece - the calendar

The Samsung S8530 Wave II features a decent alarm clock application which allows a huge number of alarms to be set, each with its own start time and repeat pattern. It also hosts the world clock, stop-watch and timer functions. There is also a calculator aboard. It is nicely touch optimized - the buttons are big enough and easy to hit. Oh, the Wave II packs a voice recorder as well.

The Clock app has the alarm options, the world clock, the stop-watch and the timer • Calculator

Samsung have included the My Files app – a simple to use but functional file manager, which also doubles as an image gallery. It can move, copy, lock and rename files in bulk, even send multiple files over Bluetooth.

The My Files app

The System Manager is the first telltale sign the Wave II is actually a smartphone. It consists of four tabs. The first one shows the device information (model number, firmware version, MAC addresses), the second one displays the battery info, while the third and the fourth inform you on the CPU usage and the memory status, respectively. Along with the CPU usage you can also see the currently running apps and you can start the Task manager.

The System Manager

The Memo and Mini Diary are self-explanatory. The first app works with only text, while the Diary lets you also attach pictures.

The Memo and Mini Diary

Social Hub is the messaging and media sharing Holy Grail – this one app allows you to create a message (it may pack media content too) and then send it to various services – SMS/MMS, email, social networks.

The Social Hub

Samsung also added native Twitter and Facebook clients on the Bada OS. They are nicely touch optimized and have similar looks and functionality as the respective apps for the iPhone and Symbian.

Facebook • Twitter

The Smart Search works on everything in your phone – contacts, images, music, videos, emails, history, apps, etc. It works excellent and helps when you have lots of content. It also offers internet search with Google or Bing.

The Smart Search
Games
There are two full games pre-installed on the Wave – EDGE and Parachute Panic. You also get the Tumbling dice application.

The Tumbling dice app uses the built-in accelerometer. Shaking the phone for an occasional roll of the dice is a fun way to try your luck, and while it's free, it's not practical or particularly entertaining.

The EDGE is a very simple game, which also uses the accelerometer to control a cube over a space platform. Your goal is one - to make it to the end of the level.

Parachute Panic is very cute game – some guys jump from planes and you must open their parachutes and help them land on the ships below. The game has very nice paper drawing styling and is quite fun.

Tumbling dice • EDGE • Parachute Panic

There is also a bunch of demo games. They give you only about two minutes of gameplay each.

Unfortunately, Bada OS is still very young and its gaming potential is yet to be revealed in the future.
The Samsung Apps store
The Bada OS offers a native application repository from its start – the Samsung Apps. Samsung Apps is very similar to the Android Market. It has three tabs – featured, top and category view. There is also a download section and search option.

Samsung Apps
At the time we reviewed the original Wave we found only 60 apps over at the Samsung Apps store and now a total of nearly 3000 applications (both free and paid) are at your disposal.
And while this growth sure is impressive, the Samsung Apps store is far behind Apple’s App Store, Google’s Android Market or even the Windows Marketplace of the recently launched Windows Phone 7 platform.

GPS navigation comes at a price
The preinstalled navigation software on the Samsung S8530 Wave II can easily turn the handset in a fully functional SatNav system - especially thanks to the sensitive GPS receiver on board.

Wave II comes supplied with the Samsung LBS app, which is based on the ROUTE66 mobile application. Though its maps graphics have somewhat outdated looks, feature-wise there's really nothing missing. It has voice-guided navigation and a huge number of additional features, but the extra features come at a price.

The GPS nagigation software
The navigation software comes with 30-day trial license for voice-guided navigation (drive and walk). After that you’ll need a subscription, which is quite expensive. All other goodies require some extra payment and the whole package will cost you a lot.

There is no native Google Maps at this stage, but we hope the app will hit the Bada OS application store soon.
Final words
If you have the feeling the Wave II came out of nowhere you’re not alone. This is not your usual upgrade – it’s an emergency response to what might one day be known as the 2010 SuperAMOLED crisis. Just kidding really, but we guess it always helps to keep good humor when things don’t go quite as planned.

In a nutshell, the difference between SuperAMOLED and Super (Clear) LCD is about the same as that between Superman and Super Mario. The major novelty is in fact a major liability for the Wave II and it’s not the phone’s fault. A 3.7” Super Clear LCD touchscreen can’t match a 3.3” Super AMOLED but Samsung had no choice but try and make this work. The Bada OS is by the way not the only casualty of the AMOLED shortage.

So yes, we do think losing the SuperAMOLED screen was the worst thing that could happen to the Wave II. But in all honesty, they did try to make the whole thing less painful. Making the screen bigger seems the right thing to do. And other than the screen, it’s the same phone with the whole set of top notch features intact.

You get the same 5 megapixel still camera and HD video recording and a complete connectivity package including Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and TV out. There’s the impressively fast CPU and premium finish. And not least, the Bada OS has just been updated to v1.2.

Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 Reviews

It was difficult to stem the increasingly aggressive steps with Samsung that its Google's Android. South Korean vendors are really ready for combat. New Weapon for this year again fired into the market, Samsung Galaxy Ace or GT-S5830 is one of them.

Design

The design of the Samsung Ace Galaxy is packaged in a glossy black candybar body and rounded corners but firm impression implies. At first glance, the Samsung is like trying to show something new through the Galaxy Ace.
This phone looks like a want to escape from the Galaxy before a family trait. There was something more simple and tend to adopt a style that developed the iPhone 4. There are significant differences in the rear casing is coated with a rough texture and finishing abrasive.

On the left side of the body just pinned the volume buttons. On the right side of the body embedded power button / lock key and micro SD slot that is hotswap. While the 3.5-mm audio port and port appear side by side on the upper side of the body Galaxy Ace.
This phone also has a proximity sensor buried in the top right corner of the front body. The position of this sensor is really subtle and barely visible. This sensor works like radar, to detect the distance between the screen with an object in front of him. When you call this sensor will deactivate the screen if it is near the ear.

Display & Menu
Galaxy Ace Samsung screen carries a 3.5-inch TFT LCD with a resolution of 320x480 pixels (HVGA). Relatively large in its class with sufficient pixel density. Injections of 16 million color display enriches the menu on this phone.
Thanks to a touch screen kapasitifnya, Galaxy Ace can be operated conveniently via the touch of soft fingers. Including good sensitivity and no special problems when responding to touch of a finger. In some features, this phone is already present multitouch features or pinch to zoom.
The combination of the Android OS 2.2.1 (Froyo) and support 800 MHz processor makes Galaxy Ace satisfactory acceleration. Navigation menus and execution applications has tended to 'smooth'. Transitions between menus or operation of the application process fairly smoothly. Only the occasional annoying lag that happens.

The performance of several supporting features such as accelerometers and kinetic scrolling in sight patent. Both are able to react properly and quickly respond to commands. Unfortunately, The accelerometer still not fully integrated and only runs on specific applications.

As always you'll find customizable homescreen with seven panels that can be fitted with various widgets and shortcuts. Homescreen can be reduced according to taste and it is actually quite helpful in accelerating the process of navigation.

It was characteristic TouchWiz that the main menu has a grid that displays the menu page is shifted to the side (the page can increase in number). Unlike some other manufacturers output Android phone that offers a main menu page in the vertical display is shifted downward alias.
One additional, Galaxy Ace already provides Swype-enabled QWERTY keyboard. Swype feature quite helpful in typing messages on mobile phones with small screens. You do not have accurate when typing, simply by drawing a line from one letter to another letter that it becomes wet nurse said.

Camera
Camera capabilities Galaxy Ace gives a distinct impression for PULSE. Strength of 5 megapixel, autofocus and flash features into its own power in its class. Competitors must worry. As is known, Android phones in general have a weakness in this sector.

Camera interface standard with a variety show features such as shooting mode, scene modes, white balance, ISO setting, focus mode, the effect to image quality. In this sector there is almost no significant difference with other mobile phone class.

Galaxy Ace seem to want to erase doubts about the ability of Android phone camera which is usually below average. To take pictures outdoors, this phone is capable of producing images with an accurate picture detail and color reproduction to satisfy.
In an indoor session, the images were no less biting. When tested photographing under fluorescent lights in the room, the images have good color accuracy and quite detailed. This is thanks to the synergy of autofocus and flash features optimal.
Unfortunately in the video recording, the resolution offered only 320x240 pixels (QVGA). The result records not so bad, but if too many moving images look broken.

Audio Video
The music player is still the standard Galaxy Ace TouchWiz UI. Interface consists of several tabs that can sort options: artists, albums, songs and playlists. Interestingly, Galaxy Ace already dibenami DNSe equalizer and audio technology to strengthen the sector.

Unfortunately, the resulting audio output from the loudspeaker phone is less 'kick'. The Sounds not produce powerful and less bass boom despite the position of maximum volume. Unlike when listening via the headset, the music that came out was more dynamic between bass and treble.

The phone also includes an FM radio as an alternative audio entertainment. Practical and easy to use interface but to listen to radio broadcasts needed a headset as a replacement antenna. Regarding the video player capabilities, the Samsung Ace New Galaxy can play the file with a standard format.

Internet
Talking about this, Galaxy Ace already support 3G/HSDPA network at speeds up to 7.2 Mbps. To surf more freely, of course, can even be used also as a modem for PC. Or if you want another alternative to using Wi-fi.

As Froyo Android based phones in general, in Galaxy Ace Wifi technology features supported Tethering and portable hotspot. You can share a mobile Internet connection from your phone to other devices over Wi-fi. Setup is easy.

zoming by double tap or pinch to zoom. Unfortunately, this phone does not support Flash Player 10.1.

Other Features
Some interesting features in this phone include Voice Search, enabling search by voice. ThinkFree, to view, edit and create Microsoft Word / Excel / Powerpoint. Even social networking features are integrated including Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.

Other than that, you still will be treated with a variety of distinctive features of Android. Starting from Google Maps, Navigation, Latitude and Places that supported the GPS. There is also GoogleTalk, Android Market, Gmail and YouTube plus standard applications commonly found in mobile phones such as calendar and calculator to the Samsung Apps.

Problem of internal memory, Galaxy Ace inserted for 158 MB of user memory for storing data and files. To accommodate more data, you can use MicroSD memory card slot with capacity up to 32 GB. Vendor immerse 2GB memory card in the sales package.

Conclusion
Galaxy Ace Samsung phones including the most powerful in its class. The screen is large, its capacitive sensors without any problems, the camera is good quality and adequate combination of OS and processor makes it stand out. One small note, the enthusiast virtual world can not enjoy Flash on its browser. (hp)

I hope my review of Samsung galaxy ace will be helpful for many people. I bough this phone from ebay india and got the delivery very fast in Pune from Udaipur vendor. (He took only 2 days to ship the mobile and 1 day was taken by the Blue Dart courier).

I went through lot web sites before finalizing this phone. It's a new budget phone from Samsung. I took this phone after comparing it with Motorola DEFY, LG Optimus One (waited for LG Chic for almost 3+ months) and compared it with HTC wildfire. Please remember this is not a high end phone and do not expect a premium features/hardware from this phones. I had a decent budget cap of indian Rs 15-16K (max $350 USD) and inside that budget cap I was looking for maximum features/facilities.

Phone came with headphones, battery, additional white color plastic back, a charger and USB cable to connect it to computer, 2 GB MicroSD card, leather pouch and manual CD's. I was wondering if i need to take a backup of my contacts but after inserting my sim android software very well integrated everything. I installed facebook, twitter apps and android identified correct people there numbers, facebook details and twitter details under one name!

On most of the sites there is incorrect information available about memory. This phone has 278 MB of RAM and 181 MB of storage. Phones graphic quality is very neat, clean and crysp. The touch response is very smooth and fast also you don't need to hard press to generate the required touch. Phone auto rotates the screen if you hold it horizontally. Phone really surprised me at first when the entire battery drained out in just 6 hrs. However I searched it on google on how to improve the battery life of android phones and I found good links to do the same. I turned off the other GSM network search and only limit it to 2G as I have idea sim card. I also installed a widget to enable/disable wifi, gprs, sync features in one tap. Reduced the brightness of the screen and in last 6 hrs I have only lost one battery bar! So i can assume it worked well.

I installed following apps: (Updated on 6 March 2011)

1. Opera browser - Far Better than default browser + Sync all bookmarks with desktop
2. Adobe acrobat reader - PDF file reader ( Better than ThinkOffice PDF reader)
3. barcode scanner - Scan any barcode and get info instantly
4. compass - Incase if you are lost
5. Google sky map - Visit universe from your mobile
6. twitter - For twitting from mobile
7. facebook - !!!
8. ASTRO file manager - Browser enter mobile file system
9. ConvertPad - Convert various formats to other formats
10. Air control light - I'm addicted to this game, land all airplanes on airstrip safely
11. skype - Call anyone over internet for free! ( Via wifi, your other contact needs to be on skype too!)
12. talking tom - My daughter loves playing with Tom
13. SeamanPlayer - Default player is good but this plays any format thrown at it!
14. Solitaire (With FreeCell) - Card games, just to kill time
15. Dropbox - Sync all files between desktop, laptop with mobile
16. Goggles - Identify/Search any product by just taking a photo of it!
17. xPiano - Play a piano on your mobile
18. KeePassDroid - I use this on desktop, laptop to store all passwords, works on linux, windows, mac and android one file on all platforms!
19. SoundHound - Search any song, details of it by just allowing it to listen for 15 sec!!!
20. GuitarTuner - Tune your guitar in case you have one!
21. Samsung IM - GTalk, MSN Messenger, Yahoo under one roof
22. Samsung EMail - Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, MS Exchange email under on app
23. Raging Thunder - Car racing game
24. Weather Widgets - This shows weather of my home town (Pune)
25. Instant Heartbeat - Gives your current heartbeat
26. Solo Lite: Again a Guitar tuner and Chord position helper
27. Stopwatch & Timer
28. AndroidVNC - To remotely control my home computers from my mobile.
29. World Atlas - Gives information of country.
30. Sky.fm radio - Awesome radio with lot of English music from various Geners
31. Lookout - To secure my phone from viruses and to locate it in case it is lost/stolen

all the mentioned apps are free. I also noticed that I can edit doc, xls, ppt files in ThinkFree office suite that came pre installed with the phone. Phone supports multi touch, phone supports youtube but not the flash that is embedded into websites. Headphone are optimized for better voice quality during call so they dont give great quality sound when you are listining songs, however when I plugged in my creative earphones sound quality was amazing.

Samsung also has provided a software that converted various video formats into mp4 that can be easily played on mobile.

Over all I'm very happy with this phone, considering the budget cap I had.

Update: 11-April-2011
Just upgraded my phone with the latest firmware. My earlier attempt failed when I did it from home. (Rather I should say I canceled it cause it was taking too much time and for my 64KB connection it was too much. so I did my firmware upgrade from office internet which is 12MB/s connection just took 15 min for entire process. )
First I updated my kies (Also imp I did the upgrade from my admin account as normal user failed to fetch and upgrade firmware) Connected the phone via USB and allowed kies to do the firmware upgrade. Attaching the couple of screenshots for everyone reference. At the moment I've no clue as to what new changes/fixes have been updated but I'll update my blog once I've noticed it.
Unfortunately I forgot to note down my earlier firmware version number, however the new firmware version is now PDA:KC1 / PHONE:KC1 / CSC:KC1 (INU)
To check your current firmware version dial *#1234#

Before upgrade: (Make sure you have Kies 2.x updated and not 1.5)

Right after upgrade was complete:
Now Kies shows the updated firmware version on my phone:

Update: 3 May 2011

Improving Battery life:
Since everyone is concern about battery life let me update the blog for the same.
To improve battery do following
1. Always charge 100% and discharge fully all the way upto 10% - if you are not sure how much battery is left use some decent battery monitoring tool like "Smart Battery Monitor" Do not rely on default battery indicator as it does not give exact value
2. Turn off GPS and wifi when you are not using it, to do so click on option button when at home screen then notification and quickly disable the wifi and gps
3. Turn off network discovery like 3G if you are using 2G network. To do so click on option button at home screen then click on settings then "Wireless and networks" then "Mobile networks" then check the "Use only 2G networks"
4. Reduce the screen brightness to do so click on option button at home screen then click on settings then "Display" then "Brightness", set it to minimum as per your comfort.
5. Reduce running too many widgets on home screens they run in background all the time and can drain your battery
6. If you are using Facebook, Twitter, Skype or various email services, increase the time delay between the syncs like once in a day or twice in a day. Or in some cases do not run the auto sync instead rely on manual syncing.
7. Hold the center button for 3-4 seconds and start the task manager and close the running app if it is not in use ( ex: browser/radio/music player) tend to remain running even when you have stopped using it.

It'll be good practice to always carry the USB cable with you that came with the box, you can charge your mobile by simply connecting it to music system in you car if your music system has USB port! Also you can charge your mobile via computer/laptop by connecting the same cable.

I guess this should drastically improve the battery life. My battery is now lasting for more than day inspite of moderate use of browser, email and phone calls. Remember one thing android phones tend to drain battery bit quicker but its our fault as well, as we tend to use it more or less like a computer!

Update 15-May-2011:

Screenshot:
To take screenshot of your phone simply hold on back button and then click middle button, your screenshots will be stored into SD card under folder called screencapture

You always need not have to goto Market from your android phone, if your phone has wifi, 3G or GPRS connection on then simply goto http://market.android.com from your computer and make sure you are logged in with your gmail account. Select/Search application and click on install. App will get installed on your android phone!

Here is a cool apps that I found:
If you have always on internet connection and have a large music collection that you would like to access from your android phone simply goto your PC and signup to audiogalaxy.com and install the audiogalaxy app from market to your android phone. Now access your entire music collection from your android phone over wifi, 3G or GPRS.

About: Blessed with a beautiful singing voice and a talent for song-writing, Jemma Pixie Hixon had always dreamed of becoming a star. But her fledgling career came to a halt when she developed agoraphobia, a condition which left her so frightened of the outside world she has been unable to leave her house for 2 years.

So she decided to film herself singing in a makeshift recording studio in her bedroom in Malvern, Worcestershire, using a webcam then post the footage on the internet. Thanks to those videos, she has attracted more than 2.3 million hits on YouTube with her cover versions of pop songs belted out from her bedroom. In March 2011, she named as the most viewed video in China. Jemma is currently reaching a wider audience and her popularity has risen in many countries including Japan, Malaysia, Russia and America. Jemma might not have many pictures but by watching her sings, she makes my heart melts!
